On September 23, 2021, China’s first offshore pilot oilfield shore power project, Qinhuangdao-Caofeidian Oil field Group shore power project, belonging to China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) in the Bohai sea region, was successfully put into operation.

Qinhuangdao-Caofeidian oilfield shore power project includes offshore 220kV offshore Haifeng power platform, 220kV onshore Haidiao switching station, 220kV offshore Haiyu power platform and 220kV Haishun switching station. The successful operation of the project marks the completion of offshore and onshore parts of Bohai oilfield shore power project as scheduled.

Qinhuangdao-Caofeidian oilfield shore power project

After the shore power project is put into operation, it can reduce the crude oil consumption by 175,000 m3

Traditional offshore oil fields mainly use the natural gas and crude oil from oil field as fuel for power generation, which not only has low efficiency and high energy consumption, but also has much lower stability than large power grid.

After the shore power project is put into operation, it can reduce the crude oil consumption by 175,000 m3, the natural gas consumption by 2.38 billion m3 and the carbon dioxide emission by 1.75 million tons compared with the annual power generation.

Successful commissioning of the project

The successful commissioning of the project will completely change the ‘self-generating mode’ of the offshore oil fields in the past.

It is of great strategic significance for China to promote the adjustment of the national energy structure and achieve the goal of energy saving and emission reduction, and promote the healthy development of the offshore oil industry.

As the supplier of complete secondary system equipment for the shore power project, NR has provided entire system of core equipment, such as integrated automation system, protection equipment, safety and stability control system and inrush current suppressor for the four 220kV substations of the project.

NR carries out in-depth analysis of the project

NR has made an in-depth analysis of the unique characteristics of shore power project's safety, stability

In order to ensure the adaptability and advanced nature of the whole solution, NR has made an in-depth analysis of the unique characteristics of shore power project's safety, stability and operation & maintenance.

As all systems of the offshore electric power platform are in the special marine environment of high humidity and salt, entire equipment provided by NR have successfully passed and fully meet the operational standards in the marine environment.

NR assists in CNOOC shore power project implementation

From equipment manufacturing to production commissioning, and then to project support construction, NR assisted the smooth implementation of Qinhuangdao-Caofeidian shore power project with advanced technology, excellent products and professional services, providing strong support for the power network construction of CNOOC offshore oil field group.

NR will continue to provide safe and reliable shore power supply solution with digital, unmanned and intelligent application for CNOOC offshore oilfield in the future.
