Scolmore is delighted to announce the appointment of Darren Staniforth, one of the electrical industry’s leading technical experts, to the newly created role of Head of Technical Engagement for the Scolmore group of companies. With nearly 30 years’ experience in the industry, Darren Staniforth has amassed a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise, which he will be utilizing in his new position, where he will primarily be responsible for engaging with professional contractors and electricians, in order to advise and educate them on the right solutions and products to meet the ever changing regulations and technical requirements of the industry. Key role in new product development Darren Staniforth will also play a key role in the company’s new product development program Darren Staniforth will also play a key role in the company’s new product development program, helping to shape solutions for the end user that will drive growth across the group’s product categories – Click wiring accessories, Ovia lighting, ESP security and fire protection and Sangamo time switches and heating controls. Having started out as an electrical apprentice, working across a number of domestic, commercial and industrial projects, Darren moved to Bedford College to complete his higher education and where he qualified as a Lecturer. This was followed by a role as Qualified Supervisor and Contracts Manager, with one of the United Kingdom’s largest domestic new home electrical contractors, looking after teams of around 65 engineers and installers. He joins Scolmore following his 14-year tenure with the NICEIC, as Group Senior Technical Presenter. Vast industry experience Darren Staniforth’s appointment will further enhance Scolmore Group’s marketing and training offer. I’m very keen to get started on some big projects that Scolmore’s customers will benefit from.”

Scolmore is delighted to have secured the appointment of former BSI Electrical Testing Engineer, Michael Dunn, to take up the role of Senior Testing Engineer for the Scolmore Group of companies. Michael Dunn brings with him a wealth of experience garnered during an impressive career which includes working within electrical installation and maintenance with a number of contracting firms in the early years, and latterly as electrical and lighting testing engineer for British Standards Institution. He joins from his most recent role as electrical testing team leader with BSI. Working alongside the technical team At Scolmore, Michael Dunn will be working alongside the technical team At Scolmore, Michael Dunn will be working alongside the technical team, providing vital product testing services across the whole group – Scolmore, ESP, Ovia and Unicrimp. He will have overall responsibility for managing the testing requirements for effective delivery of compliant products.  Michael Dunn’s other duties will include working to ensure that industry best practice is being adopted for products selected and making sure that test equipment and tools are well managed, calibrated and appropriate, so as to meet the changing needs of the products required to operate in the electrical contracting marketplace. Product quality, testing and compliance Mark Flanagan, Scolmore’s Technical Manager, said “Product quality, testing and compliance are all crucial elements in any product development program and as a manufacturer, we put every measure in place, to ensure our products are high quality, reliable and adhere to all the relevant testing and legislation requirements.”  Mark Flanagan adds, “We are thrilled to have someone of Michael’s vast experience and knowledge within testing joining our expanding technical team. His input will be highly valuable especially in the current environment where scrutiny of standards and compliance in the industry has never been higher.”

Scolmore Group is delighted to have been voted ‘Supplier of the Year’ by Electricbase, one of the UK’s largest electrical wholesalers supplying contractors, installers, commercial and industrial users from its network of nationwide branches. The awards ceremony took place on the evening of the company’s annual conference and trade show which took place before lockdown at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, United Kingdom. Scolmore voted ‘Supplier of the Year’ Scolmore Group’s Sales Director, Kevin Beech, was presented with the ‘Supplier of the Year’ trophy Scolmore Group, along with other key suppliers, had the opportunity to showcase products from across the group of companies – Scolmore, Ovia, ESP and Unicrimp - and network with contacts from all levels of the Electricbase organization.  Scolmore Group’s Sales Director, Kevin Beech, was presented with the ‘Supplier of the Year’ trophy, by Electricbase’s General Manager, Paul Simister and Commercial Manager, Steve Poulson.
