Comau's Hyperflex technology has gained recognition as a featured case study in the 2025 'World Robotics' report by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). This installation at EDP's solar park in Valladolid is highlighted for showcasing advances in robotic solutions across new business areas and customer segments. The World Robotics publication is renowned for its detailed analysis of industrial robot sales and deployment.
Application of Comau's Hyperflex
The case study focuses on how Comau's Hyperflex, a mobile robotic factory, and MATE-XT wearable exoskeletons were utilized to automate a 3MW section of EDP's 122MW solar park in Peñaflor, Valladolid, Spain. The automation project aimed to revolutionize solar farm construction by enhancing speed of installation, improving worker safety, and increasing operational efficiency.
MATE-XT Exoskeletons
Comau's solution includes MATE-XT exoskeletons, which are designed to provide ergonomic support to workers engaged in overhead and repetitive tasks. Hyperflex operates as a mobile factory, automating the manufacturing, transportation, and installation of solar components to streamline workflow and logistics on-site. With the integration of Comau robotics, artificial intelligence, and patented lifting equipment, the system enables humans and robots to collaborate effectively. MATE-XT exoskeletons help reduce worker fatigue and enhance task precision.
New Standard for Automated Solar Farm Construction
The successful application of Hyperflex at EDP's solar facility marks a significant advancement in clean energy solutions. “Hyperflex's successful deployment at EDP's Valladolid solar park signifies a leap forward in clean energy. This comprehensive solution sets a new standard for automated solar farm construction, achieving the feat with no incidents, zero defects, and improved efficiency,” stated Francesco Beccarisi, Innovation & Process Technologies manager at Comau. This achievement is expected to refine the system, optimize processes, and facilitate broader deployment across Europe and globally.
