As part of a modernization project to establish their desired electrical control functionalities, Fannie Mae elected to modify existing electrical equipment.
In lieu of replacing the existing electrical equipment to achieve the desired intent, our engineers and electricians undertook field retrofit services of the existing switchgear lineup at their facility in Herndon, VA.
Smart Retrofitting
Instead of replacing the equipment various benefits can be achived by retrofitting
This approach resulted in cost savings, time savings, and reduced outages to the customer. Existing switchgear lineups are often in good condition but lack many functionalities to suit a customer’s unique requirements.
Instead of replacing the equipment to achieve unique requirements, various benefits can be realized by retrofitting. This includes significant cost savings, reduced project duration, and minimal interruption of existing building operations.
To meet the customer’s desired requirements, their team investigated the internal circuitry of the switchgear lineup and ascertained the specific AC/DC control modifications of the existing switchgear lineup to accomplish the desired operating criteria.
Implementation Scope
Work performed under this project included:
- Evaluating Sub-Components of Breakers and Relays
- Engineered Shop Drawing Modifications
- Installation of New Wiring Harnesses
- Control Wire Terminations
- Replacement of Spring Charging Motor Mechanisms
- Main-Tie-Main Interlocking
The complete replacement of switchgear is often unnecessary and too costly.
