UFD, the Naturgy Group’s electricity distributor, now has more than 38,000 self-supply installations in its electricity network after having doubled the number of connections in 2023.
These operative self-supply installations have a total capacity of 950 MW, a figure that represents an important milestone for the company in its commitment to the energy transition.
Naturgy’s commitment
This record illustrates Naturgy’s commitment to helping and encouraging its customers to adopt this technology. In 2023 alone, UFD connected more than 20,600 self-supply points, which equates to more than 1,700 new connections every month.
The Madrid region is home to the highest number of self-supply points in Naturgy’s distribution network with a total of 38%, followed by Castilla-La Mancha with 33%.

UFD manages connection requests in accordance with the procedures defined by regulators and works closely with them to speed up this process.
In 2023, the average time taken to activate a self-supply point was approximately 3.97 days from when the supply company received the request, which is under the 5-day limit established in regulations.
In addition, UFD’s website provides customers with transparent advice and information to help them manage the connection process, with tutorials that guide them, and describe the procedure and the documentation they must submit.

UFD is present in Madrid, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha (where it is the largest electricity distributor) and Castilla y León. It currently serves almost 3.8 million supply points with a network of 120,000 kilometers of high, medium and low voltage lines, maintaining and operating the networks with a commitment to ensuring service under conditions of efficiency, safety and quality.
