Comau's latest innovation, the Hyperflex robotic system, was the focal point of a recent masterclass at the Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon, highlighting advancements in solar energy automation.
The session, held on November 11, featured insights from Giovanni Di Stefano, Comau's Head of Advanced Robotics, and António Coutinho, CEO of EDP Innovation.
Their discussion, titled "Automating the Energy Transition: The Future is Now," explored the role of cutting-edge automation and collaborative innovation in facilitating the global shift towards sustainable solar energy.

Hyperflex, a mobile robotic factory developed in collaboration with EDP, is designed to streamline solar farm construction by automating the assembly and installation of solar trackers directly on site.
This innovation not only reduces installation time and expenses but also enhances worker safety and energy efficiency. A notable implementation was the construction of a 3MW section within EDP's expansive 122MW solar park in Peñaflor, Valladolid, Spain, showcasing the system's capabilities.
During the masterclass, Giovanni Di Stefano provided an exclusive look into the development of Hyperflex 2.0, explaining how experiences from the Peñaflor project have led to key enhancements that bolster the system's overall value. The next-generation system is set to further reduce costs and significantly increase performance through improved automation, mobility, and AI-driven control.
Advancements in Renewable Energy
EDP's ongoing commitment to renewable energy and innovation continues to gain attention at the Web Summit. Now in its ninth year at the event, EDP is also spotlighting its progress with a keynote at the Energy Stage.

He further emphasized the advanced state of Hyperflex technology, noting its pioneering Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and validation for large-scale industrial application. Thanks to new process enhancements, such as automated quick clamping options, the Hyperflex 2.0 system aims to double or even triple its current performance levels.
