The No.5 1000MW supercritical generating unit at the State Grid Hanchuan Power Plant was recently operated under full load and connected to the grid.
It marks the completion of the first 1000MW unit overhauling project undertaken by Shanghai Electric. Generators and gas turbines of the project are from Shanghai Electric.

Compared with the Class B maintenance project for No.6 unit in 2019, the No.5 unit overhauling project involves more tasks and uncertainties. Since the commencement in early April, the Hanchuan Project Department has overcome various difficulties as Hubei has set strict measures for COVID-19 prevention and control.
Emergency spare parts have been quickly provided to ensure timely supply and on-schedule task completion. Excellent work in turbine buckling, motor startup, and grid connection is highly recognized by the owner.
