LOVATO Electric expands its range of safety devices with the new contactors type BFS, designed to meet the requirements of ISO 13849-1 (Safety of machinery – Safety-related parts of control systems) and IEC/EN 62061 (Safety of machinery – Functional safety of safety-related control systems).
The range is composed of three-pole contactors with rated motor current from 9 to 38A AC-3 400V, available in variants with coil voltage at choice between 24VAC, 110VAC, 230VAC, and 24VDC. The sizes up to 25 A incorporate 2NO+3NC auxiliary contacts, while the upper sizes have 2NO+2NC.
Safety contactors BF series
The safety contactors BF series are compliant with the “Mirror Contacts” (IEC/EN 60947-4-1) function, which requires that the NC auxiliary contact cannot be in the closed position at the same time as the NO main contact even in a fault condition (main contact welding), and “Mechanically Linked Contacts” (IEC/EN 60947-5-1), that prevents the simultaneous closure of the NO and NC auxiliary contacts, even in a fault condition (welding of NO or NC contacts).
Compared to traditional contactors, BFS contactors also offer additional features:
- Auxiliary contact block not removable from contactor to prevent tampering
- Manual operation or operation with tools prevented by guards
- Auxiliary contact block with yellow cover to highlight devices forming part of the safety circuit
- Contactor status clearly visible through the front window.
These features allow to achieve a high degree of reliability and make BFS contactors the ideal solution for safety applications.
