Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) has announced that Jason Agee will take on the role of plant manager at the John W. Turk Jr. Power Plant, a 650 MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired facility located near Fulton, Arkansas. Agee assumes this position following the retirement of Tim Gross, the longtime manager who retired on July 1. Gross had been at the helm since the plant's inception and its commencement of operations in 2012.
Leadership Transition at Turk Power Plant
In his new role, Agee will report to Monte McMahon, Vice President of Generating Assets, and be tasked with overseeing the plant's managerial, financial, environmental, and safety performance. McMahon expressed confidence in Agee's abilities, stating, “Jason’s career, background and training, uniquely qualifies him for this role. Jason brings a commitment to our culture and the customers we serve. I’m delighted to see him progress to this role and look forward to having him take the helm.” Agee's appointment comes after rising through various positions at the plant since he began as a process system owner in 2012.
Experience and Dedication
Most recently, Agee served on the plant’s leadership team as the energy production superintendent, a role he held since 2022. His tenure at SWEPCO follows a notable career in the U.S. Navy as an electronics technician and nuclear reactor operator. Educational Background and Previous Experience
Agee joined AEP’s Cook Nuclear Power Plant in 1999 and later transitioned in 2008 to support AEP’s new generation construction projects, including assisting in constructing the Turk plant. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Technology from Siena Heights University in Michigan.
