Restoration work is ongoing in the ArklaTex region after Beryl caused widespread damage. SWEPCO crews, in partnership with other utility professionals, are working to rebuild key infrastructure and restore power to the remaining customers without service.
Damage assessment shows multiple repairs needed in hard-to-access locations, including heavily wooded or flooded areas. As of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, SWEPCO successfully and safely restored power to approximately 40,000 customers.
SWEPCO's crews and contractors
Because of the extensive flooding and hard-to-reach, sometimes treacherous terrain, the work may be slower as SWEPCO works to complete more challenging work in hard-to-reach, often inaccessible areas. Safety for one another remains top of mind as crews continue to work in dangerous conditions.
To aid in the work across the ArkLaTex, SWEPCO has brought in crews and contractors with specialized track equipment to access damaged areas and have leveraged resources on the ground, in the air and on boats so they could make their way to where the work needed to be done.
Estimated Time of Restoration (ETRs)
As part of SWEPCO’s storm restoration assessment process, the company has shared ETRs
As part of SWEPCO’s storm restoration assessment process, the company has shared estimated restoration times for areas impacted by the storm.
Based on the number of outages and crews available, they developed a Global Estimated Time of Restoration or ETR, which is an estimate of how long it will take to restore 95% of all customers affected.
Direct updates on the estimated restoration time
The more damage there is to the system, the further out in time the global ETR will be. Please note that these restoration times could change based on the complexity of repairs.
Customers who signed up for email or text alerts could receive direct updates on the estimated restoration time at their home or business as crews continue working to restore power.
