The latest bout of severe storms has caused 15,700 outages, heavily impacting SWEPCO’s southern service areas, including Hornbeck and Natchitoches, while Shreveport and its vicinity in Louisiana reported 3,000 outages. Additionally, around 7,900 outages have been reported primarily in the Longview, Texas region.
The task of restoring power is further complicated by the need to rebuild infrastructure following a destructive tornado that hit Northwest Arkansas. Incoming severe weather may further delay these efforts.
Support from Additional Crews
To bolster restoration efforts, 116 utility professionals from Houston, Texas, are on their way to assist SWEPCO's teams. Their support will be vital in accelerating the recovery process and restoring services to the affected regions hit hard by the storms.
Safety Precautions Post-Storm
Residents are advised to maintain a safe distance from downed power lines and any objects they contact. Report any hazards immediately to 911 or SWEPCO at (888) 218-3919. Caution is also recommended when clearing debris, as fallen tree limbs and other storm debris may conceal downed wires. Additionally, ensure safe generator usage by adhering to the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent accidents.
