William C. Bradford, Jr., an attorney based in Shreveport, is joining SWEPCO as the new Vice President of External Affairs, commencing his role on March 11.
Bradford is tasked with overseeing community relations, corporate communications, economic development, and public policy matters crucial to AEP SWEPCO's operations amid the evolving electricity sector.

In his new position, Bradford will report to Brett Mattison, the president and Chief Operations Officer of SWEPCO. He succeeds Brian Bond, who concluded a 41-year career with the company upon retiring on March 1.
Mattison acknowledged Bond's remarkable contribution and extended a hearty welcome to Bradford.
"I would like to express my gratitude to Brian for his friendship, guidance, and dedication to our customers," said Mattison, appreciating Bond’s influence within SWEPCO and AEP.
Bradford's Professional Background
Before joining SWEPCO, Bradford was a partner at the law firm Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin & Roberts, where he served on the executive committee as the vice president of marketing and practice development.
His areas of expertise include regulatory issues, public finance, economic development, government relations, and municipal law.

Throughout his career, Bradford has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. He has held notable positions such as City Attorney for Shreveport, Louisiana, and is actively engaged with the Shreveport and Louisiana Bar Associations.
His roles extend to Vice Chair of the Caddo Parish Industrial Development Board and Vice-Chair of Public Policy for the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Beyond the legal sphere, Bradford contributes significantly to civic endeavors, having served as Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Northwest Louisiana and participating in the local board for Volunteers of America.

Bradford holds an undergraduate degree in English from Dillard University in New Orleans and obtained his Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge in 2009. He resides in Northwest Louisiana with his wife, Dr. Sonja Gennuso-Bradford, and their two children.

Bradford will report directly to Brett Mattison, SWEPCO president and Chief Operations Officer. Bradford takes over from Brian Bond, who retired March 1 following a successful 41-year career at SWEPCO.

Before joining SWEPCO, Bradford worked at the law firm Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin & Roberts, where he was named a partner and served on the firm’s executive committee as the vice president of marketing and practice development.
He brings experience in regulatory, public finance, economic development, government relations, transactional, real estate, and municipal law.

Throughout Bradford’s career, he has been involved in numerous organizations, showcasing his commitment to public service. He has served as the City Attorney for the City of Shreveport, Louisiana and is an active member of the Bar Associations for Shreveport and the state of Louisiana.
He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Caddo Parish Industrial Development Board, Vice-Chair of Public Policy for the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, is an executive committee member for the North Louisiana Economic Partnership, and board member on the Military Affairs Council and more.
