Representatives of the collective municipality and the municipalities met with representatives of Westenergie in Prüm to symbolically sign the extension of the relevant contracts. The service agreements entitled 'Light & Service' were extended for a further ten years.

"We will be able to significantly reduce energy consumption in the coming years by using energy-saving technology," explained Aloysius Söhngen, Mayor of the Prüm municipality.

The area of the Prüm municipality includes around 5,100 street lights. In the coming years, Westenergie will continue to modernize the municipality's systems with state-of-the-art LED technology. In addition to modernizing the street lighting to new technologies, the agreement also includes the planning, construction, and operation of street lights, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the systems.
