Wasatch Electric successfully implemented comprehensive electrical systems and controls for Utah Valley University's new 130,000-square-foot Performance Arts Center.
Integral to the project was the installation of advanced theatrical lighting technology in key areas such as the dance theater, concert hall, and proscenium theater.
The design includes expansive catwalks, each equipped with hundreds of dimmable lights controlled through sophisticated boards within each theater's control booth.

The project showcased unique features, such as custom LED façade lighting fixtures that adorn the exterior upper coves of the Center.
Various facets of the electrical installation by Wasatch Electric encompassed power distribution systems with significant capacity; a 2,000-kilovolt-amp transformer linked to a 3,000-amp switchboard and a 1,000-kilovolt-amp transformer connected to a 3,600-amp switchboard.
In addition, backup power is provided by a 300-kilowatt generator, supporting two switchboards, 11 distribution panels, and 64 panelboards. Further enhancements included 13 theatrical shore power "company switches," eight transformers, and two automatic transfer switches.
Meeting Client Needs
This cutting-edge facility highlights Utah Valley University's commitment to performing arts education, featuring amenities such as a 900-seat concert hall set to host the Utah Symphony, a 500-seat proscenium theater with an orchestra pit, and a choral recital hall.
The facility also offers numerous soundproof practice and teaching spaces, along with specialized production and recording areas.
Comprehensive Solutions and Technological Integration
