Schneider Electric, the pioneer in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been included in the Fortune 2023 ‘Change the World’ list — a ranking of the top companies in the world making positive social or environmental impact through activities integral to their core business strategy and operations.

The inclusion, announced on September 27, 2023, marks the fourth time Schneider Electric has featured on this prestigious annual list. Fortune evaluates candidates based on measurable social impact, business results, and degree of innovation. To be considered, companies must generate annual revenues of $1 billion or more.

Energy management system

Each year, Fortune looks for new companies with recent impact and devotes several months to the solicitation and assessment of nominees. A team of journalists from Fortune then investigates each of the candidates independently. The final list is selected by the editors of Fortune based on the magazine’s own reporting and analysis.

Fortune specifically called out Schneider Home, a first-of-its-kind energy management system that makes homes more integrated and efficient. It combines a smart electrical panel, home battery, solar inverter, electric vehicle charger, and connected electrical fixtures. In contrast to existing solutions that need separate apps and disjointed hardware — Schneider Home brings everything under the control of a single app. Fortune recognized the benefit this solution brings to people and the planet by helping homeowners to better manage their energy use, reduce their utility costs, and live more sustainably.

Commercial and residential buildings

An example of the use of Schneider Home solutions on a wider scale is Schneider Electric's partnership with KB Home, one of the largest and most recognized homebuilders in the United States. The project, described by Fortune, is about creating an innovative, energy-efficient and resilient new home community in Menifee, California.

The inclusion is the latest of many recognitions and awards the company receives every year for its performance on the environmental, social and governance (ESG) front. Together, these reflect Schneider Electric’s enduring commitment, not just to sustainability, but to delivering innovative products and services that help companies, industries, commercial and residential buildings, and entire economies become more energy efficient and resilient, transforming the lives of people around the world.
