This partnership follows an initial phase designed to aid in the industrialization of Intecells’ innovative cold plasma application. As part of this continuing collaboration, Comau has invested in Intecells, acquiring a stake in the company.
Intecells' Innovative Technology
This investment enables both companies to demonstrate the cost-effective technology to customers and integrate it into existing manufacturing lines. The primary aim is to lower cycle time and reduce energy consumption during the soaking and drying phases by utilizing Intecells' approach, which eliminates the need for traditional solvents and binders.
Additionally, efforts will be focused on enhancing cell capacity, cyclability, and production quality across diverse battery types and sizes.

Comau is actively contributing to the progress in electrification. As a leader in best-practice technologies within this field, Comau supports the entire battery lifecycle — from cell formation to module assembly and further steps such as testing, dismantling, and recycling.
With growing demands from challenging market conditions, a significant portion of battery production remains centered around electric vehicle applications, which are anticipated to experience a 15% CAGR from 2025 to 2030. The worldwide energy storage sector is also set for significant growth, with expectations of a 15-18% CAGR, leading to a projected 1.5TWh of installed capacity by 2030.
