The ban had been planned for 2040, but has been brought forward by a decade through Boris Johnson’s 10-point plan to tackle climate change.

This is tremendous for the EV industry, and they welcome the law for the UK car market, and they will be ready to support millions of new drivers coming year on year to a completely new experience of driving zero-emission electricity-powered vehicles.

Investment in the infrastructure

Currently, fewer than 1% of cars on UK roads are powered entirely by electricity

Currently, fewer than 1% of cars on UK roads are powered entirely by electricity, so the Prime Minister’s plan to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars will require an enormous investment in the infrastructure needed for electric vehicles.

Hence, the Government has said to fund £1.3bn to accelerate the roll-out of charge points for electric vehicles in homes, streets, and motorways across England.

Net Zero 2050

Electric Miles know the future is Electric and this news has given a real boost to the EV sector.

For a young start-up like them, it means they continue to press on with the deployment of the SMART intelligent charging software to Businesses and Home users, they are confident the mass deployment will happen and there will be bigger pain points to be solved, such as it doesn’t come in the way of the Electrification of the Transport network, and the UK moves towards Net Zero 2050 and achieve this pivotal green industrial revolution.

Intelligent charging software

Electric Miles has made charging seamless and easy with intelligent charging software

Electric Miles has made charging seamless and easy with intelligent charging software for electric vehicle owners, Fleet operators, and charge-point manufacturers.

The platform ensures they will always have the right charge in the vehicle at the right time at the right cost and at the right carbon impact.

With this news, they can safely assume that every personal driver or business fleets in the UK will now be thinking of the “which” EV to get rather than “why”, there will be millions of new drivers switching over to Electric every year, and will be entering unknown territory when it comes to charging especially.

Role as SMART charging

They want to be their choice to manage to charge. The National Grid says it is confident that it is ‘suitably robust to cope with the forecast uptake in electric vehicles’ from 2030 as long as the majority of charging happens overnight, i.e., drivers and fleets deploy SMART charging.

If consumers fail to adopt SMART charging, then National Grid will face the pain and will struggle to cope with peak demand which is expected to go up by 30%. Hence, the role as SMART charging enabler with the power of the software is extremely pivotal to keep the Grid operational along with ensuring they continue to be clean and green.

Deploy SMART charging capabilities

The importance of the role, they will be looking to open source the software

Considering, the importance of the role, they will be looking to open source the software such as more and more ChargePoint manufacturers are able to integrate with them, such as they are able to deploy SMART charging capabilities more widely.

They are also working closely with OEMs to be able to integrate with EVs, such as being able to remotely turn on/off charging events based on the need of the consumers as well as the National Grid.

Impact of electric vehicle charging

They are also on a plan to deploy demand-side response Grid Flexibility (V1G) with the contracts they secured, delivering 8 MW of flexibility across South East England, the East of England, London the Midlands, South Wales, and the South West for WPD and UKPN – as its unique software and app combination reduces the cost and environmental impact of electric vehicle charging.

This will give they an edge to learn from this experience, and then be able to execute on Vehicle 2 Grid, once it becomes commercially ready to deliver.
