Wasatch Electric successfully delivered electrical and power distribution solutions for the Intermountain Gardner Transformation Center (IGTC), a cutting-edge facility dedicated to healthcare training and research.
The completion of the project required Wasatch Electric to utilize their extensive expertise in healthcare technology, applying their knowledge gained from working in advanced educational environments.
Project Objectives
The IGTC was established with the objective of uniting healthcare professionals from across the United States and globally to enhance collaboration and training. The center aims to pioneer innovative strategies to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare services.
Electrical and Technical Solutions
Spanning over 120,000 square feet and comprising four stories, the IGTC features a variety of specialized spaces. Wasatch Electric provided tailored electrical solutions to support diverse environments, such as auditoriums, classrooms, conference rooms, collaboration spaces, a library, a production studio, and a research kitchen.
Important to this setup was the creation of an advanced developmental area focused on new medical technology innovations.
The project scope for Wasatch Electric included a comprehensive range of systems and installations:
- Electrical systems
- Telecommunications infrastructure
- Fire alarm systems
- Security setups
- Audio/visual installations
- Lighting systems and controls
- Lightning protection mechanisms
- Power and distribution solutions, including:
- A 2,500-amp power system with egress lighting, operating without traditional diesel engine generators
- Nine distribution switchboards
- Twenty-seven panel boards
- Extensive underground power and data duct networks
- Four varied uninterruptible power supply systems
Background on the Client
The Intermountain Gardner Transformation Center is managed by Intermountain Healthcare, a major not-for-profit healthcare provider in the region. Intermountain Healthcare operates 225 clinics and 25 hospitals across Utah, Idaho, and Nevada, providing both ambulatory and acute health services.
